Gaming festival Games Con is set to makes its debut in the region, and there are a ton of reasons you should be going.
Everything from cosplay to e-sports, celebrities and pre-releases are to be expected.
The event will take place on November 23 to 25 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), masterminded by the same crew that organises the Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC).
Games Con has a bundle of big names rocking up for the event, including YouTube personalities Ali A, Claire Siobhan, Vikkstar and one of the sidemen himself, Zerkaa.
On top of that, expect voice actors including Chloe Hollings (Widowmaker from Overwatch), DC Douglas (From Resident Evil, One Piece and Star Trek Enterprise) as well as Brina Palence (Mad Moxxi from Borderlands).
The UAE’s first ever Dota 2 collegiate e-sports tournament ‘MSI Heat’ will be taking place, with teams battling it out for a Dhs15,000 prize pool.
On top of that, there’ll be table-top tournaments a-plenty, including Catan, Magic the Gathering, Legend of the Five Rings, Splendor, Ticket to Ride and Codenames.
3. Game design and development workshops!
These sessions will be hosted by emerging brands and developers, tailored towards all age groups and experience levels, hoping to inspire young people to get involved in the gaming industry.
4. Unreleased games!
If you’re one to get ahead of the crowd, Games Con will be showcasing some of next year’s anticipated titles.
Games you can expect include Dragonball Fighter Z, Dissidia NT – Final Fantasy, Dynasty Warriors 9, Monster Hunter: World, No no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, Attack on Titan 2, Gravel.
5. Cosplay contests!
While it hasn’t been announced whether any famous international cosplayers will be passing through, you can be sure to expect some seriously creative costumes.
There’ll also be a contest showcasing some of the greatest in costume craft, with the winner of the solo entry contest taking home Dhs7,000, while the winners of the group entry contest will take home Dhs10,000!
