Ever wondered how much an Emirates pilot actually earns?

If you ever needed confirmation that you’re in the wrong industry, here it is.

Emirates Airlines have released information on how much pilots for the airline earn as they look to recruit new members.

So, here it is.

Emirates pilots flying an Airbus A380 or the Boeing 777 receive a serious Dhs58,770 a month, which consists of Dhs42,695 base salary and Dhs16,075 for housing.

As for annual leave, they receive 42 days a year.

Pilots can also opt for company-provided housing, and receive global primary and secondary education allowance, medical and dental coverage, and even life insurance.

On top of all that, you receive an Emirates Platinum discount card, which will bag you deals not only in the UAE, but at hotels and outlets all over the world.

“Emirates regularly holds information roadshows globally to recruit pilots to meet our operational requirements,” an Emirates spokesperson told Arabian Business.

Becoming a pilot is no easy feat though. A First Officer on a Boeing 777 or an A380 requires a valid International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Airline Transport Pilot License, as well as 2,000 hours flying an aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of 20 tonnes or more. Or, 3,000 hours flying an aircraft with a maximum take-off weight above 10 tonnes.

On top of that, you’ve got to have a standard of English above ICAO level 4.

As it stands, Emirates employs around 4,000 pilots from around 100 different countries, flying to 155 destinations in 83 countries across six continents.
