No, this doesn’t mean you’re now able to speed around the city, the relaxed rules apply to ‘non-dangerous’ violations only.
Drivers who commit non-dangerous traffic violations will no longer need to worry about having their vehicles confiscated.
The new rule will go into effect immediately, and will also affect current offenders who will have their vehicles released from impound if they have already completed half of their designated confiscation period.
Don’t worry, those caught driving recklessly, running red lights, speeding, racing and endangering lives will still be held accountable for their actions.

The gesture comes as part of the UAE’s Year of Giving, which was announced by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, last year.
