This UAE-based billionaire plans to pay for India’s most expensive-ever film

Love a good Indian flick? This UAE-based billionaire is planning on breaking the record for the most expensive Indian film ever made.

Indian businessman Dr Bavaguthu Raghuram Shetty announced that he will be producing a Dhs551 million film, which will be based around the Sankrit tale of ancient India, The Mahabharata.

The film tells the story of the Kuruksetra War and the fates of the Kuarava and the Pandava princes.

The film will be directed by South Indian filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon, and will be shot in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu.

The movie will be released in two parts in early 2020, with the second part being released three months after the first.

Shetty told Arab News that the film would be adapted in “over 100 languages and reach over three billion people across the world.”
