When you’re holding an accolade as fancy as the world’s tallest building, there’ll always be people looking to outdo you.
It seems India has its sights set on taking over the trophy, with plans to build a structure taller than the Burj Khalifa in the country’s financial capital, Mumbai.
“We have plans to develop the area… We plan to build a historic landmark bigger than the Burj Khalifa.
“The plan is ready, we are waiting for the approval from the Cabinet,” Nitin Gadkari, the union minister for shipping, road transport and highways told Press Trust of India.
While it may be taller than the Burj Khalifa, the under-construction Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia is still set to be the world’s tallest once finished in 2020, at a height of 1,001 metres.
Oh, and there’s still doubt as to whether the soon-to-be building in India will stand taller than The Tower, Dubai’s latest attempt to build a taller building than the Burj Khalifa.
