Always fancied visiting Saudi Arabia? It might be worth postponing your trip for a few years…
Saudi Arabia have announced plans to build an entire city dedicated solely to entertainment.
The 334 square kilometer city will be built in Riyadh, making it roughly one-eighth the size of Luxembourg and around the same size as Las Vegas when complete.
The ‘Entertainment City’ will also include one of the world’s best-known theme parks Six Flags, as well as a safari park amidst a bundle of other cultural and entertainment facilities.
Construction is set to start early 2018, with the first stage looking to be completed by 2022.
“This city will become, by God’s will, a prominent cultural landmark and an important center for meeting the future generation’s recreational, cultural and social needs in the kingdom,” Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, deputy crown prince told Al Jazeera.
Plans for a Six Flags in the kingdowm were announced by CEO John Duffy after meeting with Mohammed bin Salman last year.
“We’re very honored to be provided with an opportunity to enter into a partnership to bring Six Flags to the kingdom… Our parks can provide the entertainment to which Saudis aspire,” Duffy said after the meeting.
