Dubai Aquarium’s VRZOO experience gets you up-close and personal with some of the world’s endangered species

African safari on the bucket list? Well, it’s closer than you think…

If you haven’t yet had your first virtual reality (VR) experience, you’re missing out.

Teaming up with Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo and Wevr, Emaar have unveiled the attraction VRZOO.

What is it? VRZOO will have you wearing your own VR headset, transporting you to a number of different locations in full 360-degrees including Uganda, South Africa, Maldives, Egypt, Australia and Mafia Island in Tanzania for a 3D encounter with some of the world’s endangered species.

You’ll be able to get up close with gorillas, lions, elephants and more, with the goal being to raise awareness and understanding of these animals which are fast approaching extinction.

Check out the video of the gorilla encounter experience here:

There’s even an underwater version, allowing you to explore a number of underwater habitats, coming face-to-face with some of the ocean’s most awe-inspiring creatures.

“Educating the public about endangered species is a key priority at Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo and we’re glad to be able to reflect that mission in the new VRZOO attraction…

“The experience brings adventurers closer than ever to incredible creatures such as African elephants and dugongs, in a safe envinroment, where they can come face-t0-face in a way that’s not possible in the wild.”

How much is it?

Located near the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, the experience costs Dhs30 for the 360-degree experience, and Dhs50 for the more immersive CGI experience.
